So Wilson and I were driving in the car and listening to the radio when we heard a commercial advertising the upcoming Hawaii Women's Expo... They announced that they would be having a bunch of contests at the Expo and one of them included a Mother/Daughter Look-a-Like Contest. We get comments constantly about how she's my little mini-me...And I mean CONSTANTLY! We thought it'd be fun to enter, but continued driving and didn't think much more about it.
Then a few weeks later, we were sitting at home, watching TV and the same commercial came on. We decided to try it out and submit a picture online. Again, after we submitted it, we didn't think much more about it.
Then, out of the blue, my cell phone rings and it's a number I don't recognize. I answer and to my surprize, it's a representative from the company hosting the contest. She tells me that Chalei and I have been chosen as one of the top 10 finalists out of over 1,500 applicants. She then goes on to give me instructions and tells me to report to the Center Stage of the Neil Blaisdell Center on September 13, 2009. I get off the phone to tell my husband the news and were both pretty shocked ;-) The contest is set for a SUNDAY of all days, so we went to sacrament and then left for the Blaisdell.
When we arrive, I'm shocked at the contestants we have yet to compete with. I know you all are reading this and thinking, Chalei is a carbon copy of me, she's got it in the bag! But let me tell you, some of these mother/daughter pairs looked SO alike! We get on stage to the roaring crowd and luckily, Chalei was a doll! She was loving every second on the cat-walk and smiled up a storm ;-)
To make a long story short, YES, we won the contest! We were awarded a prize pack filled with goodies and gift cards totalling $1,000! Yay for SPA treatments!!!
We entered for fun and walked out winners and it was a great experience! We were thrilled and Wilson was so proud of his girls ;-)
